Nikolaos Sfakianakis received his PhD in Applied Mathematics in 2009 from the University of Crete, Greece in collaboration with École Normale Supérieure in Paris, France and the University of Vienna, Austria. Since then his research topic is Mathematical Biology and he has been working at the University of Vienna, the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany and Heidelberg University, Germany.  In 2019 he took up his current position as Lecturer in Applied Mathematics in the University of St.Andrews.
