Whittaker Prize

Every four years the Society awards the Sir Edmund Whittaker Memorial Prize (external link)

to an outstanding young mathematician having a specified connection with Scotland.

The Whittaker Prize 2009 has been awarded to Professor Agata Smoktunowicz (external link)

of the
University of Edinburgh. The presentation was made at the Annual General Meeting on Friday 16th October 2009.

The Whittaker Prize will next be awarded in October 2013. Members of the Society (and others) will be invited to submit nominations in Autumn 2012.
