Steven joined the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh in 2020, having previously served as Co-Executive Director of the UK Mathematics Trust, then based at the University of Leeds. Before that, he completed a PhD in noncommutative ring theory and taught mathematics at the University of Glasgow, as well as in two secondary schools in Glasgow. Since joining the School of Mathematics, he has collaborated with colleagues to redesign teaching and assessment.
